Jerdy Schouten JerdyJerdy Schouten 's professional football career began in relative lull. As an attacking midfielder he hardly got any playing time at ADO Den Haag, so he decided to continue his career at Telstar. There he stood out, which earned him a transfer to Excelsior. Schouten also made an impression in Rotterdam: after only one season he left again, this time to Italian FC Bologna.

In Serie A, he grew into a defensive midfielder of level. Bologna saw in him the perfect controller, and with success: in three seasons the South Hollander made it to 109 games for the 'Rossoblu'.

His strong performances did not go unnoticed. In the summer of 2023, PSV brought him in as successor to Ibrahim Sangaré, who left for Nottingham Forest. Schouten became a fixture in the Eindhoven midfield and played into the spotlight of national coach Ronald Koeman. In 2024, he was selected for the European Championship in Germany, crowning his rise in top football.
