PSV is preparing for the home game against AS Monaco. The two teams are battling for first place in Pool B of the UEFA Europa League. Head coach Roger Schmidt confirms that it will be a tough match. "Monaco, like us, almost qualified for the Champions League. It is an excellent team with strong individuals."

Spicy
''The clubs entering this stage of the tournament are all playing at a high level," Schmidt continued. "You can also see this with AS Monaco. The team has strong qualities. For example, they focus on long balls and counters.''

Experienced talents
Sitting next to Schmidt at the press conference was Olivier Boscagli, and he finds it special to play Thursday against the team from his hometown. "I was born in Monaco myself. I think it's beautiful then to be able to play against that club now." He expects it to be an exciting match. "Monaco has a good team with young talents and players who gained experience at other French clubs. They can come out dangerously, so we will have to keep watching carefully."

Sangaré not present
Ibrahim Sangaré received a red card during the match against Sturm Graz which means he will not play tomorrow. Schmidt is not worried about that. "Ibi is a key player. His missed is annoying, but we have enough players who can be in that position." One of those options is Boscagli. The Frenchman has played in the midfield before. "I'm used to it now. At first, the switch from defense to midfield was a bit more difficult. Now it's going well for me," the Frenchman confirmed. As to who will eventually stand, Schmidt does not yet know. "The final choice I will make tomorrow."

Recovery Thomas
Due to a minor knee injury, Ryan Thomas did not play against PEC Zwolle last Saturday. Schmidt let it be known that he is doing better. "He followed individual training. That went well. We are keeping the option open for him to be on the bench tomorrow. Maybe he can play a few minutes then. If not, then probably Sunday against Ajax."
