MatchWornShirt is going to provide PSV 1's shirts with an innovative digital first in the world of collectibles and sports memorabilia. The company is partnering with PSV for the testing phase of special NFC chips, which will authenticate and validate the shirts. Fabricks, the new sister company of MatchWornShirt, also records data about the player, the match in which the shirt was worn and the buyer.

PSV has been working for years with MatchWornShirt, which auctions match shirts of professional footballers. The club has been playing with the special chips on its shirts for the first time since the home game with Vitesse (April 13). Collectors are fully assured of an original and unique copy, easily distinguishable from fakes, thanks to the digital certification. The chips feature all kinds of data that can be accessed through the NFC reader on any cell phone. This gives the product an extra dimension, answering the demand of collectors.

Innovative values
MatchWornShirt besides AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge, has deliberately chosen PSV for the launch of Fabricks. "The innovative nature of the product fits tremendously with PSV, which always strives for progress," says Tijmen Zonderwijk of MatchWornShirt. "In addition, PSV represents the innovative Brainport region, where the chips find their origin. Indeed, the product was developed in cooperation with chip manufacturer NXP from Eindhoven."

Commercial Director Frans Janssen also sees similarities between Fabricks, MatchWornShirt and PSV. "They are companies with innovative values. It is therefore no surprise that we are working together and that the next step involves an innovative product. A product that has its origins in this region. I am proud that we have found each other in this."

The chips, which are applied by the equipment man prior to each game, are exclusively part of the match shirts worn by PSV players. These will be auctioned off after the game by MatchWornShirt. Shirts in the FANstore do not contain chips.
