PSV Women have qualified for the final of the Eredivisie Cup. Coach Roeland ten Berge 's ladies won 2-1 against Ajax Women on Wednesday night after an extension at Sportpark De Toekomst and will therefore meet FC Twente Women in the final match.

The last time they won against the Amsterdam opponent was in 2021, but that spell was broken in the semifinals of the Eredivisie Cup. In the first half, it was mainly the home side that created the danger in enemy territory, but Lisan Alkemade showed itself to be a true closing post and kept her goal clean.

Attractive
The abundance of water this evening led to a surge in the second 45 minutes, as both teams had a number of good chances. A crucial save from Alkemade as well as Ajax Women's goalie Lois Niënhuis was frequently tested. Goals seemed to remain out, until the 78th minute. Tiny Hoekstra saw her effort fall into the goal via the inside of the post, breaking the spell.

PSV Women showed resilience and 18-year-old Veerle Buurman scored in the absolute closing stages and got the equalizer to her name. Extension followed and this time there was soon good news for Ten Berge's team. PSV Women got a penalty kick and Joëlle Smits showed she had nerves of steel. The attacker shot the ball into the ropes and her team into the final. On May 26, PSV Women will meet defending champion FC Twente Women.
