PSV has accepted a settlement proposal from the prosecutor's office to play the first away match of the 2024-2025 season without away supporters. That sanction was imposed following the away match against sc Heerenveen, which was marred in the closing stages by fireworks from the away box.

The game in Friesland was played on Thursday, April 25, and ended 0-8. For PSV, that match was an unofficial championship match. Just before time, flares landed on the playing field, after which referee Danny Makkelie temporarily stopped the match.

Disappointed
PSV regrets the incident and is not happy with the abuse that took place in the visitors' box of the Abe Lenstra Stadion. "It was a great gala performance by our team, but unfortunately it was overshadowed in the closing minutes by the fireworks by our supporters. We accepted the settlement, because the facts were obvious. We must all prevent this from happening again before the consequences are even worse," PSV General Manager Marcel Brands responded understandingly to the sanction from Zeist.
