It was at the last minute, but on deadline day Patrick van Aanholt became PSV's. The brand new recruit will wear a red and white shirt for the rest of the season. Not unknown to him, because from 2007 to 2009 he also played in PSV's jersey. Patrick enjoys being back in Eindhoven.

After a lengthy foreign adventure, Van Aanholt returns to the old nest. "I remember quite a lot from my time at PSV. That was still at the old complex, which was a long time ago. I'm happy to be back," said Van Aanholt, who had already planned to return to the Netherlands one day. "I spoke with Marcel Brands and consulted with my family. Then it happened quickly. I like it, enjoy it and can't wait to get started."

Experience
After years of playing in England and Turkey, this was the right time to move to Eindhoven. "Because of the foreign experience I carry with me, I can be important for the team. Also, I think I can be of value in the dressing room. Van Aanholt indicated that PSV has a nice squad. "We are competing in the Europa League, the TOTO KNVB Cup and of course the league. We are going for as many prizes as possible."

Friend of Xavi

Van Aanholt has never completely lost sight of PSV. "I've kept an eye on PSV in recent years," he said. With current PSV player Xavi Simons, Van Aanholt has been familiar for some time. "I know Xavi very well and we speak to each other regularly. I have followed him at the club in recent months. He is doing well and that also made the choice easier for me."

Top start
After deadline day, Patrick gave himself some brief time to get used to the team, the style of play and the coach. "Feyenoord is a nice incoming game, wonderful even. The switch flips and then there is complete focus. How they say it in English: I'm looking forward to it!"
