History

On June 4, 2012, PSV and FC Eindhoven decided to join forces and jointly register a team for the Women’s BeNe League, the cross-border competition between the Netherlands and Belgium. In the early years, the team operated under the name PSV/FC Eindhoven and played its matches at the Jan Louwers Stadium. The partnership formed a solid foundation, but it was also a transitional phase. In 2015, PSV made the definitive decision to fully embrace women’s football. FC Eindhoven withdrew from the partnership, after which the team continued as PSV Women, fully integrated into the club’s structure. From that point on, the team also played in the recognizable red-and-white club colors, an important symbol of that internal integration.

Following the transition from the BeNe League to the national Eredivisie Women, PSV Women developed steadily. The club made targeted investments in talent development, facilities, and coaching, thereby laying a solid foundation. In 2019, a youth development program—PSV U21 Women—was added, strengthening the flow of young talent into the first team.

The sporting breakthrough was not long in coming. In 2021, PSV Women won the KNVB Cup, the first title in the club’s history. That victory marked a turning point: proof that the club was investing not only in growth but also in achieving sporting success.

Since the 2025–2026 season, the team has been playing with “Fe+Male Tech Heroes ” emblazoned on their jerseys. This is their own title sponsor, which, just like the Brainport Eindhoven Metropolitan Region, serves as an umbrella for a collective of seven companies. Together with PSV Women, they aim to promote diversity and inclusion in the technology sector.

In the years that followed, PSV established itself as a top club in the Eredivisie Women. The team consistently competed at the top of the league and qualified for European competition on multiple occasions. At the same time, the club made significant strides toward professionalization. The number of full-time staff members increased, and the facilities were further expanded. In 2025, TenCate Stadion De Herdgang—a magnificent stadium for home games—was completed. And with its own building at PSV Campus De Herdgang, the women’s team gained a home base within the club, both literally and figuratively.

In the 2025–2026 season, years of effort and development were rewarded. After several seasons of coming up just short and narrow misses, everything finally fell into place. In a dominant season, in which PSV won the most matches and excelled both offensively and defensively, the national title was secured. It marked the first national title in the history of PSV Women and a reward for fourteen years of building and growth.

PSV Women’s journey is thus a story of vision, perseverance, and development—from a partnership in 2012 to an independent top-tier team in 2026, with a clear place within the club and in Dutch women’s football. With a strong youth academy, a growing fan base, and proven athletic achievements, the foundation is in place to continue on this path in the coming years and further build a sustainable role at the top.
