Lutsharel Geertruida joined on loan from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2026. The Dutch national team player had also been loaned out the previous season, this time to Sunderland FC. At the English club, he was part of a successful team that, as a newly promoted side, qualified for European competition for the first time in fifty years.

RB Leipzig acquired Lutsharel from Feyenoord in 2024, after which the defender became a national champion.
