Veerle knew immediately that her pitch had to be in Eindhoven. "It's fantastic to be able to open my own Cruyff Court. That's really a huge honor. The fact that this field is in Eindhoven, right between De Herdgang, the Philips Stadium and the place where I lived, makes it extra special. Of course, I played two fantastic years at PSV. It is the club where I went through an enormous development and the place where my talent was seen. That has brought me where I am now: at Chelsea and at Orange! I wish all children lots of fun playing on this new pitch."

Veerle made her debut for PSV Women at the age of seventeen. She grew to become a fixed value in the defense and an international of Oranje. She played a total of forty games in the red and white, before making the move to Chelsea last summer.

In the category 'Johan Crujff Talent of the Year' season 2024-2025 Veerle Buurman was one of the five nominees. She left behind Lynn Groenewegen (FC Twente), Daliyah de Klonia (Ajax), Danique Tolhoek (Ajax) and Toko Koga (Feyenoord). The central defender stood out this season for her calmness on the ball, game insight and speed. She was a stable force in defense and proved her worth once again in last weekend's Eredivisie Cup final. In the 120thminute , she brought PSV alongside FC Twente with a header, forcing an extension. Through penalty kicks, the final victory was eventually clinched.

Azerion Women's Eredivisie

The Dutch team will play Austria on April 4 and 8 for the UEFA Women's Nations League. These are the third and fourth matches of the group stage. The Netherlands collected four points in the first two duels. Austria has three. With Veerle and Renate, PSV provides the most players of all premier league teams.

With four delegates, PSV Women also provide a large share in the selection of PSV U21. Lisan Alkemade, Emma Frijns, Nina Nijstad and Fleur Stoit will play a friendly match against Germany on April 4. Depending on the result, it will meet Italy or Norway on April 7. Anissa Chibani is part of Orange O19.

After Esmee Brugts, Veerle is the second PSV Women player to be selected for the NXGN. Goal describes her as follows: "At the age of 18, Veerle is already an impressive central defender with leadership qualities. A former captain at the youth level, she exudes calmness and confidence. She is quick, reads the game well and positions herself cleverly in defense. Like the best modern defenders, she is comfortable on the ball, calm under pressure and strong in the build-up."

The Azerion Women's Eredivisie is well represented. Besides Veerle, Daniela Galic (FC Twente) Lilly Yohannes (Ajax) and Toko Kaga (Feyenoord) are also included in the list.

And the foursome showed positively. Nina started Friday in the starting lineup and immediately repaid that confidence with two goals. Renate entered the field in the sixtieth minute and made a hat trick within half an hour. And Gwyneth also got playing time.

Only eighteen-year-old Veerle Buurman did not get any minutes in that first match, but against top country Denmark she started in the starting line-up. And with success: she played with guts and therefore drew praise from national coach Andries Jonker afterwards. "Veerle played great. It couldn't have been any better. She did everything we asked and showed why we think she is a great talent. She is knocking on the door and can have a huge future in international football," he said of the central defender.

Junior Lionesses
PSV was also strongly represented at the Young Oranje. Zera Hulswitt, Robine Lacroix, Emma Frijns and Fleur Stoit all four got minutes played in the match against Sweden's peers, which was their debut for the latter two. Robine already had that honor a few days earlier against England. Both matches ended in a draw due to a Dutch goal in injury time. Lisan Alkemade was on the bench both matches.

Belgium
At Belgium, Lore Jacobs and Nicky Evrard were on the bench for two games. The Red Flames won from and played equal against Greece 5-0 and 0-0. And with that the relief in the camp of the southern neighbors was great. After all, they are only one step away from a ticket to the 2025 European Championship. Only a duel with Ukraine still stands in the way of participation. The Orange Lionesses are already qualified for the European Championships.
