PSV Women won their first preseason friendly 2-1 against Metalist Kharkiv. Thanks to two well-placed headers by Fenna Kalma and Princess Marfo, the team came out on top. For Marfo, it also marked a goal on her unofficial debut in the red and white.
Maud Rutgers, Rosalie Renfurm, and Julia Hickelsberger also made their unofficial debuts for PSV Women against Kharkiv. The newcomers immediately made a good impression. Maud looked solid defensively and exuded calmness in build-up play, while Julia constantly created danger on the wing with her speed and stamina. Rosalie made her appearance in the second half and stringed together one pass after another.
PSV Women had the most possession in the first half, though Kharkiv was dangerous at times on the counterattack. As the first half progressed, the home team ramped up the pressure. That resulted in a well-deserved opening goal just before halftime. Julia sent a measured cross from the left flank to Fenna Kalma’s head, who skillfully headed the ball into the net, sending PSV into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Second Half
The second half began just as the first had ended: with a header. This time, Princess Marfo was the final link in the attack. On a pass from Janice Cayman, the forward headed the ball convincingly into the net, doubling the lead.
Kharkiv responded almost immediately. After a scramble, the ball hit the underside of the crossbar and crossed the goal line: 2-1. However, the visitors got no further than that. PSV maintained control, continued to dictate the play, and gave away hardly any chances. Despite a brief late offensive push by Kharkiv, the victory remained in Eindhoven, meaning PSV Women begin their preparations for the 2026–2027 season with a 2–1 win.
