PSV Women acquires Janice Cayman from Leicester City. The Belgian record international with 170 games for the Red Flames to her name, joins Roeland ten Berge's team immediately. Janice has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract, with an option for an additional year.
With Janice, PSV adds a multifunctional player and a lot of experience to the selection. The 37-year-old defender has played at the highest level in England, France, Belgium and the United States. She played for Olympique Lyon, Montpellier, OH Leuven, Paris FC and Western New York Flash, among others. With the latter club, Janice won her first national title. At Lyon, she won the most awards: Twice the UEFA Women's Champions League, twice the national title, twice the cup and once the Super Cup. Incidentally, she played there alongside Shanice van de Sanden, who also signed with PSV this winter.
Since 2023, Janice played for Leicester City, where she was the captain. Janice is particularly multifunctional. During her career, she also played in midfield as well as up front. In 170 duels for the Belgian Red Flames, she scored 49 times. In 2017, she even did so four times in one game against Moldova.
Helping young players
"It is an honor to be able to play for PSV," says Janice, who will wear jersey number nineteen. "There was mutual interest and then things can go very quickly. I think I add a lot of experience to the selection and can help young players. Just like PSV, I have big ambitions: I want to play European football and fight for the championship."
Technical Manager Marco Knirsch is pleased with Janice's arrival. "We had actually wanted to get her in the summer, but now the opportunity presented itself that we could acquire her immediately. She can play in several positions, which gives us a lot of options, but she comes primarily as a defender. On top of that, she also adds a ton of experience to our team."
