PSV has definitively acquired Matěj Kovář from Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was rented last summer, with an option to buy included. Now that all conditions have been met, the option has been lifted and the Czech international will sign a contract that ties him to the Eindhoven club for four and a half years.

Kovář is developing rapidly at PSV and has already proven himself emphatically under the crossbar. So far he has appeared 26 times in official matches for head coach Peter Bosz's team, in which he regularly distinguished himself with crucial saves and a reliable appearance.

"We are extremely pleased that we can now tie Matěj permanently to PSV," said Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart. "He has shown in a short time that he not only has excellent goalkeeping skills, but also fits perfectly with the way we want to play. Matěj radiates calmness, is strong in the build-up and performs under pressure. In addition, he is a very pleasant person to deal with, someone who fits well in the group and wants to get the maximum out of himself every day. That makes him of great value to us, now and towards the future."
