Ritsu Doan's transfer to PSV is final. After completing the final acts, the 21-year-old Japan international signed a contract until mid-2024 at the Philips Stadium.

Happy
Earlier, PSV and FC Groningen (Doan's previous club) found each other in a buyout deal for the offensive-minded Japanese, who is incredibly happy to call himself a PSV player. "PSV is a very big club and is always competing for the title. I want to play for that and if I want to achieve that I will have to become even more of a team player. Just scoring and giving assists is no longer enough here," said Doan, who successfully completed his medical at PSV this week.

Youngest debutant in Japan
Doan began his professional career in 2015 in his home country at top club Gamba Osaka. In the highest national football league, the J1 League, he made his debut in the first at 16, making him the youngest debutant in Japanese professional football ever. In 2017, FC Groningen attracted him on a rental basis. In his first season in the Eredivisie, Doan immediately reached 29 matches in which he scored nine goals which also subsequently earned him a permanent transfer to FC Groningen. Since then, Doan made 32 more appearances for FC Groningen (six goals). The 21-year-old left winger made his debut for the Japanese national team in 2018, playing 15 international matches so far and scoring three goals in them.

Later, Doan will be officially presented to national and international press. He then also receives a shirt with a jersey number from the hands of Mister PSV, Willy van der Kuijlen.
