The focus is once again on the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie. Sunday’s match against SC Cambuur, which has played well in recent weeks, awaits. Peter Bosz looks ahead to the match against the Frisian team.

Van Bommel, Til and Geertruida are in the Netherlands squad: did you see that coming?
“Yes, I did expect that. All three of them are playing and performing well. Of course, they were on the team last time too, so I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t be this time.”

Have you been able to get over Wednesday’s disappointment yet?
“It did take me a while to let that sink in. For us, it’s all about the result. I watched the entire match again, and I really enjoyed watching it. I think we played well. By that I mean applying pressure, but we also created chances, especially Sergiño [Dest]. It’s a shame that out of all those chances, not a single one more went in.”

Do you also send some young players to VVV-Venlo – PSV U21?
“Yes, there are quite a few of them. I think it’s important that those players continue to get playing time. It’s important to give players who don’t get much playing time the chance to play in PSV U21 matches every now and then.”

How did you analyse SC Cambuur?
“We watched SC Cambuur’s matches, and they’ve achieved truly amazing results. In their first four matches, they conceded sixteen goals—that’s a lot. Suddenly, that turned around, even against strong opponents. It’s impressive that they managed to turn that around.”

Has Sergiño Dest’s role changed this season?
“That varies a bit from game to game. We try to let everyone play to their strengths. It would be a shame to have Sergiño play only defence, because he’s someone who can create chances. He’s a game-changer.”

What do you think are [SC] Cambuur’s strengths?
“I think they have some really great players who are capable of making an impact individually. They’ve scored a lot of goals, including some beautiful ones against Go Ahead Eagles. They just play really entertaining football with a lot of enthusiasm. The match against Club Brugge was an open game, and I expect the same against SC Cambuur.”
