Counting down to the anniversary, a portrait of a special PSV player appears every day in the Eindhovens Dagblad. Today: Edward Linskens. Read his portrait in the PSV 'Gallery of Honor' here. If you scan the paper newspaper with Layar, the photo comes to life via a clip from PSV TV, which of course you can also watch here on PSV.nl.

There are players who are known for one action, one goal, one miss. Edward Linskens is such a player. He is known for his goal against Real Madrid that later made PSV win the European Cup I. In the semifinals for the European Cup I, PSV plays the mighty Real on April 6, 1988 at the Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. The team plays very creditably 1-1. After star player Hugo Sánchez puts Real up 1-0 from a penalty kick in the 5th minute, Edward Linskens provides the equalizer in the 19th minute. The ball mysteriously rolled under the surprised goalkeeper Buyo. It remains 0-0 in Eindhoven in the return, making the 19-year-old Linskens' goal put PSV into the final.

Silent power
Mistakenly, many think that this remarkable goal is the Limburger's only feat. He plays 169 league games for PSV and is seen by Willy van de Kerkhof as his successor. He is equally tireless and has a good eye for positional play, but is a typical "silent force. Perhaps because of this, various trainers often see him as the twelfth man in the selection, so he is never sure of his place in the team for long.

Fanshop
Linskens' list of honors, however, is large. Besides the European Cup I, he gets four titles with PSV, three KNVB cups and a Super Cup. He plays briefly at NAC, Lokeren and VVV-Venlo. After his career, he works for several years in the PSV Fanshop, since 2006 called the PSV FANstore.
