In the away match against FC Volendam, PSV U21 did not manage to take any points back to Eindhoven. The match ended in a deception for Peter Uneken's team. They lost 5-1 in North Holland.
Quiet opener
The opening quarter went quietly. Goalkeeper Vincent Müller was tested once with a cross, which he managed to keep to himself. On the offensive side, it was Ismael Saibari with a great opportunity when he was almost put one-on-one with the Volendam goalkeeper, but an intervention by the defense prevented this. FC Volendam rushed into the counter but Mees Kreekels blocked the attack strongly. After a corner kick, Müller was tested from close range but he kept the goal clean. With thirty minutes on the clock, Richy Ledezma was sent towards the Volendam goal with a clever run. Just before the sixteen-meter area he was put off the ball which ended the attack. Some clever deep balls from Mathias Kjølø brought some spice into the team, but neither team scored before half-time.
Smooth Volendam football
After halftime FC Volendam came back on the pitch like a whirlwind. Several times the home team came dangerously close to PSV U21's sixteen-meter area and finally it hit the mark. A ball into the far corner was unstoppable for Müller, 1-0. The Eindhoveners were out for a goal of their own and came close just three minutes later. A cross from Saibari got past the Volendam goalkeeper in the clutch, but was cleared away barely a meter before the goal. Midway through the second half, it was the home team again on the score sheet. A well played attack was unstoppable for PSV U21 and the Volendam lead was doubled. While both teams were fairly evenly matched in the first half, FC Volendam proved to be too big for the PSV UMPs in the second. Again an attack of the home team was unstoppable, 3-0. Only two minutes later the fourth goal was even on the form of the home team. To alleviate the pain Kjølø managed to score an honorary goal, but a comeback was no longer in the cards. In the closing minutes FC Volendam scored the fifth.
