Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (39) succeeds John de Jong as head scout at PSV. With this, the new technical manager chooses to fill the vacancy internally that arose after his own promotion. "Jan has been involved in scouting for almost four years now and has made an excellent impression during that period. A managerial role is a fitting next step," De Jong said.
The head of scouting at PSV manages a team of a total of seven, worldwide scouts and has a supporting role towards the technical manager and head coach when it comes to the composition of the PSV and PSV U21 selections. "We have had a certain sporting policy here for a number of years," De Jong continued. "In terms of continuity, it is very valuable if you can absorb the departure of some people with colleagues who are used to the way of working and the demands we make. We are happy that Jan wants to succeed me."
Vennegoor of Hesselink had a rich career as a player. He played for FC Twente, PSV, Celtic, Hull City, Rapid Wien and nineteen times for Oranje. In January 2016, he officially returned to Eindhoven as a senior scout. Before that, he rotated in an exploratory role for a year. "I think it's a wonderful profession," Vennegoor of Hesselink said. "We are looking worldwide for players who can make us better. It's honorable that I get to lead the team of scouts now."
