Malik Tillman makes an immediate switch to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The German club acquires the 23-year-old midfielder from PSV. Tillman signs a contract until mid-2030 with his new employer.
The U.S. international moved on loan from FC Bayern Munich to PSV in the summer of 2023, and just under a year later, the Eindhoven club signed him permanently from Der Rekordmeister. Tillman became a mainstay on head Peter Bosz team. With his goals, assists, and defensive contributions, he played a key role in winning two league titles. The right-footed player also made his mark on the European stage on multiple occasions.
Tillman takes a deep breath before delivering his farewell remarks: “It’s an understatement to say that I’ve had two amazing seasons at PSV. This club has made me the player and person I am today. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our fans, who have always been so good to me. I’m going to miss the people I’ve worked with at PSV very much, and I want to thank everyone associated with the club for everything. It has been a true pleasure, and I proudly pass my jersey number on to our new signing, Ruben van Bommel.”
For Director of Football Earnest Stewart, this transfer brings mixed feelings: “For Malik and for the club, this is a wonderful step in many ways, but above all, we’re going to miss him dearly as a football player and as a person. Thanks to his great personality, he fit in well with the team, and on the field he has shown incredible things. It’s a compliment to both Malik and PSV that a club like Leverkusen is so eager to sign him. We wish Malik all the very best, both now and in the future.”
