PSV general manager Toon Gerbrands was named the most influential man in Eindhoven and its surroundings of the year 2016 on Friday night. Head coach Phillip Cocu is second on the list of 50 most influential Eindhoven people.
Radiance on Eindhoven
Every year, the Eindhoven city glossy FRITS produces a Top 50 of the most influential men and women in the Eindhoven region. This year, Toon Gerbrands and Elphi Nelissen (TU/e) are number one in the Top 50. "Since his appointment, Toon Gerbrands has been responsible for a top sports climate with new élan, which, through PSV's sporting successes, has had its effect on everything and everyone in the Eindhoven region," FRITS editor-in-chief Hans Matheeuwsen said of Toon Gerbrands' top position.
Successor Tiny Sanders
Since Gerbrands took office at PSV in 2014, PSV became national champions twice in a row and reached the eighth final of the Champions League in 2015. The selection was announced Friday evening during a festive evening at the Van der Valk Hotel in Eindhoven. It is the second time that a top PSV executive has been voted the most influential man in the region. In 2011, the honor fell to Tiny Sanders, then also general manager of PSV.
