With tenth place up for grabs, PSV U21 began the week with a home game against MVV. Earlier in the season, the pledges had won 2-1 against the Maastricht side, and at PSV Campus de Herdgang, too, victory was within reach for a long time. Yet in the end it had to settle for one point.
Sovereign
With the sun still on the horizon, PSV U21, led by Adil Ramzi, began the match. Ramzi, who normally assists Ruud van Nistelrooy, was calling the shots as part of his coaching course. Under his watch, PSV U21 started the match very well. After four minutes, Jenson Seelt headed the ball into the net; it was a corner from the book. Moments later, Richard Ledezma passed the goalkeeper with a lob. At the back, PSV U21 hardly gave anything away, although Dennis Vos prevented a goal with a heroic intervention. A sovereign PSV U21 went to the dressing room knowing that the game was in their own hands.
Turnaround
PSV U21 had dominated the entire first half and so came out of the locker room relaxed, but sharp. Nigel Thomas, who scored against ADO Den Haag last week, was on target again. He passed his man with a fine move, but his effort hit the goalkeeper. The plaudits seemed to end the game peacefully, but an own goal by PSV U21 put MVV back in the game. Moments later, a long-distance shot hit the post. Ramzi's men seemed to be getting away with it, but the rebound was good. In the absolute closing stages, substitute Mees Kreekels came close. His volley flew just past the goal and the points were shared.
