PSV U21 managed a 3-2 win over FC Eindhoven on Monday. On Friday it wanted to follow up that victory, but it turned out to be a tough night visiting Helmond Sport. A poor start to the second half eventually killed the pledges.
Cat out of the tree
In the first half, both teams had to test the waters. There were chances back and forth, but no one really claimed a goal. In the 25th minute, the crowd at the SolarUnie Stadium thought for a moment that Helmond Sport had taken the lead when a free kick hit the side netting. PSV U21 occasionally got to shooting, but due to the angle and distance, these moments will only make it into the recap due to lack of action.
Rain of chances
As tame as the first half was, the second started brightly. A rain of chances eventually helped the home team in the saddle. After the counter goal, Nathan Markelo made his debut and PSV U21 regained more of a grip on the game. Fodé Fofana tried from distance, but where he scored twice on Monday, this time the ball went wide. A phase of total domination began and chances arose, especially after the debutant Dante Sealy added an extra attacker. In the final minutes Cheick Touré had a free hit, but the ball went over and PSV U21 lost 0-1.
