PSV Women will strengthen with striker Chimera Ripa starting the new season. The youth international of Oranje O23 comes over from sc Heerenveen and signs for three seasons in Eindhoven.
Career path
Chimera Ripa on Thursday signed a contract that commits her to PSV Women from July 1, 2022. Ripa can play both behind the striker and in the forward position and has been one of the tastemakers at sc Heerenveen this season. The 20-year-old striker chose a gradual path for her development and, after VV Alkmaar and sc Heerenveen, now has a move to a top club in hand.
Dream
Ripa is the second reinforcement for PSV Women for the new season after goalkeeper Femke Bastiaen . "On the way to Eindhoven, upon seeing the Philips Stadium, I was momentarily overcome with pride and joy that I am standing here now," says the Amsterdam native. "You sign your professional contract and start playing at a top club, that's what I've always dreamed of. This will be a new step to test myself at the highest level and push boundaries."
Qualities
About her plans at PSV, Ripa is clear. "In the field I am technically proficient, fast and a real team player. In attack I hope to make a great contribution in front of goal. I prefer to be in the striker, scoring goals remains the most beautiful thing. Although I still have to work on my header goals'', adds the Oranje O23 player with a wink.
Acquisition
Manager Sandra Doreleijers is happy about the addition of the new talent. "We have been following Chimera for some time and are very pleased to welcome her for next season. We are convinced that Chimera with her attacking and creative qualities as well as driven personality is an asset to PSV Women."
