In a decisive weekend PSV Women won from Feyenoord at the Philips Stadium, but despite the win Roeland Roeland ten Berge 's team had to settle for second place.
PSV started the game brightly at the Philips Stadion, the stadium erupting when it was announced that rival FC Twente were trailing against AZ. Shortly thereafter AZ even made it 2-0, just before PSV itself struck. Shanique Dessing opened the scoring and put PSV up 1-0.
Feyenoord got better as the game progressed. The visitors came through dangerously on the left flank and Itamura finished off the attack with a header. Despite the goal, PSV kept the upper hand. Roeland ten Berge 's team kept the ball and looked for combinations. Melanie Bross, back from a brief absence, impressed immediately and often stormed up the left flank. Feyenoord, however, continued to lurk for quick breakaways. PSV piled up chances through Nijstad and Xhemaili, among others, but again it was Dessing who managed to find the net just before half time. After a nice combination with Nina Nijstad she cleverly shot the ball into the crossbar to give PSV the lead again: 2-1.
Second half
Nicky Evrard had to come into action early in the second half after a shot by Itamura, but made an excellent save in the short corner. The game went up and down, although there were no big chances. PSV Women kept the pressure on, but Feyenoord also continued to be dangerous in the transition. Evrard prevented the equalizer with a fantastic save. Meanwhile there was news from the other fields: FC Twente made it 2-2 against AZ, but it also remained exciting in the Philips Stadium.
Van Kerkhoven headed the crossbar on behalf of Feyenoord and at the other end it was Sisca Folkertsma who hit the post after goalkeeper Weimar made a fine save. In the closing stages FC Twente took the lead at the Grolsch Veste and were the virtual champions. Fenna Kalma struck again to give PSV the lead, but it was not enough for the national championship. Roeland ten Berge 's team eventually finished in second place in the league.
