PSV has strengthened with Denzel Dumfries. The 22-year-old wing defender transfers from sc Heerenveen effective immediately and signed a contract earlier today at the Philips Stadium that ties him to PSV until the summer of 2023. "I feel fantastic," he said.
Talent of the year
Denzel Dumfries (Rotterdam, April 18, 1996) will begin his third year in the Eredivisie next season. The Junior Netherlands international was trained by Sparta Rotterdam, for whom he also made his debut in professional football on February 20, 2015. Growing into a base player, he celebrated the Jupiler League championship with the Rotterdammers a year later. That same season, Dumfries was named talent of the year. "When I played at Sparta, there was already some contact," Dumfries said during his presentation. "After that, PSV continued to follow me."

Important in Friesland
After an excellent debut season in the Eredivisie with Sparta, sc Heerenveen acquired the back last summer. In Frisian service, he reached 37 official games, in which he scored five goals and provided eight assists. "I had a fantastic year at Heerenveen, but the picture PSV painted was right," responded Dumfries, who successfully completed his medical earlier today.
'Flames'
Following that, Dumfries talked about his transfer to the Philips Stadium. "I feel fantastic. PSV is a great club with a beautiful stadium, where many top players played in the past. I found that when I used to watch the club on TV. I have worked hard to be able to stand here and will do everything I can to succeed. What can be expected of me? To win duels from my direct opponent, I just like that. I want to show that winner's mentality to the supporters. I want to go flaming."
