PSV has secured the services of Marco van Ginkel for the rest of the season. The 23-year-old midfielder comes on loan from Chelsea FC. Van Ginkel underwent his medical examination on Monday and signed the contract in the presence of Marcel Brands. The Amersfoort-born Van Ginkel will play with number 28.
Chelsea FC
Van Ginkel, a native of Vitesse's youth academy, made his Eredivisie debut for the Arnheimers in 2010. Three years later, he made the move to Chelsea FC, where he played two first-team matches. The London club then rented the midfielder to AC Milan, where he scored once in seventeen Serie A matches last season. Early this season, Van Ginkel was rented out again. Together with former PSV players Erik Pieters and Ibrahim Afellay, he played on behalf of Stoke City in the Premier League. The second half of the 2015-2016 season, Van Ginkel swapped Stoke's red and white shirt for the Eindhoven red and white shirt.

A lot of confidence
Van Ginkel: "PSV and I had been in contact for some time. They persisted and that feels like confidence. Last summer Chelsea preferred to let me within England. In the beginning I played a lot at Stoke. Then the coach started changing, we won some big games and I had to do more and more with substitutions and cup games. That wasn't enough for me, which is why I pushed for a departure to PSV. I'm glad Chelsea went along with me in this." The midfielder is looking forward to a nice second half of the season: "I am under contract at Chelsea for another 2.5 years. Playing there remains the ultimate, but I am now 100% committed to PSV. There are wonderful prospects, starting with the cup next Thursday. The Dutch championship is obviously the most important thing. And of course the Champions League, I am very much looking forward to the game against Atlético."

Marcel Brands: "This is now one of the few outside opportunities I referred to earlier this week. We already wanted to add Marco to the selection in the summer. With his type of play he adds something to this selection and that is still the case now. He is a talented Dutch player, we are very happy with his arrival."
