PSV has extended the contract of Nicky Evrard, the least passed goalkeeper in the Eurojackpot Women's Eredivisie, by two years. The Belgian international signed a new commitment this afternoon that ties her to the club until mid-2028. In the 2024-2025 season, Evrard collected only thirteen goals against.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper joined from Chelsea FC in the summer of 2024 and signed a two-year contract at the time. Prior to that, she played for FC Twente, among other clubs. In her first season with PSV, she immediately became a pillar of the team: in 13 of the 22 league matches, the defense kept a clean sheet, thanks in part to her performance. It wasn’t until matchday seven that she conceded her first goal. For PSV, it was therefore of great importance to secure her services for a longer period, despite her ongoing contract.
Women’s Football Manager Sandra Doreleijers is delighted.
“With Nicky, we truly have a leader at the back. She’s very vocal with her defense, so everyone knows exactly what’s expected of them. On top of that, she’s more than proven that her reflexes and goalkeeping are top-notch. The fact that she’s extending her contract now is incredibly important to us.”
Nicky herself didn’t have to think twice either. “PSV is making great strides in women’s football, and I definitely want to be a part of that. My first season was wonderful, but I hope the coming years will be even better. The fact that I’m now committed to the club through 2028 gives me a lot of confidence and motivation.”
Goals
Nicky hopes to achieve a lot more with PSV in the coming years. “We did really well last season. We won the Eredivisie Cup, made it to the cup final, and finished second in the league by a hair. I hope we can keep up our good play—then the results will follow naturally.”
