PSV Women will host leader FC Twente on Saturday for a real topper in the Eurojackpot Women's Eredivisie. Both teams remained unbeaten in the first rounds of play, proving their form. Previous encounters show that the teams are close, so everything at Stadion De Herdgang points to an exciting game. Lore Jacobs is looking forward to this topper.
PSV Women and FC Twente have met nineteen times before and Saturday will be their 20th encounter. Of those previous duels, PSV won seven times, lost eight times and ended in a draw four times. The goal difference speaks slightly in favor of the Toppers: PSV scored 27 times, but gave up 33. Moreover, in the last three confrontations in Eindhoven, PSV Women failed to record a victory. In January 2023 they went down 0-3, in November they suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat and in February this year they only managed a draw.
Young Lore Jacobs has played in all eight of PSV Women's matches so far this season. In those, she played a role with two goals and one assist, including the European matches. The Belgian attacker is still only 20, but is already showing a lot of resilience in the matches she plays.
Full of confidence towards topper
Lore is looking forward to the meeting with FC Twente with great confidence. "It will be a tough match, but that makes it fun," she says. PSV Women started the season strongly and the players feel they are in good shape. For Lore, Saturday is about staying sharp from the first whistle and taking advantage of all chances. "We want to show what we can do and keep playing our game, regardless of the opponent," she emphasizes.
Strength in the collective
The previous meetings with FC Twente provide extra motivation. Lore acknowledges that the Tukkers are a formidable opponent: physically strong and tactically smart. "We haven't won the last three games, so it's time to put that right," she says. In doing so, she emphasizes the strength of the current PSV team: "Look at last week: four goals and four different goal scorers. That shows we have a good quality in goal scorers."
Relying on own play
Despite the challenge, Lore remains realistic and focused on team play. "If we stay focused and execute our own game, the chances are with us," Lore said. The team wants to show on Saturday that they can put the last confrontations behind them and go full for the result.
