After the win over sc Heerenveen Peter Bosz showed his pride in his team and complimented the performance of his players. "We played really well and finally created chances again," he said. Dest, after almost one year of injury, is happy with his comeback. "Now I can show myself again," he said.
PETER BOSZ
How nice is this victory?
"Very pleasant, of course. The result does not reflect how well we played. This was an absolute must-win game, and we fully charged up for this game. To then succeed makes me very happy. I am proud of my team, because we played really well. In the beginning we played nervous, which is logical, but then we found our game and finally created chances again."
Does this victory give confidence or guarantees?
"The victory doesn't give any guarantees, because there are none in football. This definitely gives confidence, but we have to realize that even the next game we have to work very hard again, achieve this together and do it together. These kinds of things are how you eventually get out of that bad phase, though."
How important was Dest's return after such a long time, and Mauro Júnior being there again?
"Those are players with qualities that others have less or not. In a team you need grinta, and Mauro brings plenty of that. He is a great player and was clearly the best on the field today. He makes smart choices and anticipates excellently, which makes him special. Sergiño has that same fierceness in his game. Sometimes I still worry when I see him play, but the experts assure me that there's no need, so I'm sticking to that. The combination of good football and that fierceness makes them special players."
How do you view Guus' performance?
"Guus has unprecedented timing in his runs. As soon as we as a team can bring him back into his strength, he is of enormous value. This is typical Guus: a beautiful goal, neatly shot in with the left. What I liked best was that the team managed to put him in that position again."
SERGIÑO DEST
This must have been the finest half-hour of the year for you, right?
"For me absolutely. I am immensely happy to be back. The supporters and the players took good care of me and I'm very grateful for that."
Was it itching to get back on the field?
"I've had that feeling for eleven months. Before the game all I thought was, I want to get in and play again. Fortunately, the coach gave me a half-hour which was super nice. I also went straight into the duels and was just driven to seek them out. Of course I have to take it easy and be careful, but it felt good."
Can you take us through what the past few months have been like for you?
"The months were tough, but I had to accept it and keep going with a positive mindset. I had to learn to run again, train a lot and keep connecting with the team. The time was not easy and it took a long time, but I had a lot of support from the staff, players and supporters. Now I can show myself again."
How do you look at this season?
"I'm glad we took the three points tonight. There are nine more games to go that we all have to win. We can and should only look forward now. In those nine games we have to make up for it."
Again, what can you contribute to the team?
"I can help maintain focus and concentration within the team, both offensively and defensively. I want to contribute my bit to the team again."
