PSV lost in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie for the first time since Aug. 30. Ten minutes before time, Dennis Man seemed to prevent that fact, with his fifth league goal. But in the closing stages things still went wrong.
End of series
The defeat in Volendam marked the end of the series of away wins that had started in March last year. The last time PSV did not grab a three-peat in an away match in the Eredivisie was on March 1, 2025, after Go Ahead Eagles beat PSV 3-2. After victories over: RKC Waalwijk, FC Groningen (2x), FC Twente (2x), Feyenoord (2x), Sparta Rotterdam, N.E.C. Nijmegen, Excelsior Rotterdam, PEC Zwolle, AZ, NAC, sc Heerenveen, FC Utrecht and Fortuna Sittard, the series stranded at 16.
Return of Myron Boadu
A bright spot for Peter Bosz 's team was the return of Myron Boadu. The striker, who was out for a long time with a knee injury, made his last minutes in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie at the end of November and came on for Jerdy Schouten in the 68th minute on Friday. For a moment, the striker seemed to crown his substitution with an assist, but Guus Til came centimeters short and was unable to run in the 2-2.
Rare defeat
PSV went down against the Palingboeren for only the seventh time in club history. The last defeat against 'the other orange' dates back to 1994, after FC Volendam won 3-2. In Eindhoven, PSV has never lost to the Volendammers.
