Each month in the "our heroes" section you will read about the club's greatest idols. Who are these heroes and what have they meant to the club? With this month: Balázs Dzsudzsák. The Hungarian striker played 157 official matches for PSV in which he managed to find the net 54 times. The left-footed left winger was known for his hard shots and beautiful free kicks.

Balázs Dzsudzsák may blow out 36 candles on Dec. 23. The striker was born in Nyírlugos, Hungary. Here he played the first years of his career at Hungarian clubs Nyíradony Focisuli and Debreceni Olasz Focisuli. After four familiar years in his homeland, it was time for a new challenge in Europe. He grabbed the opportunity that was available with both hands.

Career
PSV was eager to add the Hungarian to the selection and brought him in. During the four successful seasons at PSV, Balázs played for several clubs. The Russian club Anzji Makhachkala made off with him. In retrospect, this did not turn out to be such a success for the Hungarian striker: he played eight games in total and was immediately sold again in the winter break. Dinamo Moscow became his next club. The years in the Russian capital, however, were a success. Balázs played 112 official matches and scored twelve goals. After adventures in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, he is back on the old nest with his childhood sweetheart Debrecen in Hungary.

Prizes with PSV
Balázs became champion once in his 'PSV era'. He took his first and only championship with PSV in the crazy year 2007. Prior to the final round of matches, AZ, Ajax and PSV were all tied on the same number of points. The tension was palpable. PSV ran away with the championship, which seemed almost impossible. Besides this championship, a year later he also won the Johan Cruijff Schaal with PSV.

International
In 2007, Balázs made his debut in the Hungarian team. Three years later he was already elected footballer of the year by the Hungarian Football Association. Since then, he has become one of the team's star players. With 109 matches and 21 goals to his name, this is not surprising either. Helpful he is too, because in addition to his goals, he also provided 22 assists to his teammates.

Specialist
Balázs was considered the free kick specialist during his time at PSV. With his hard shot, the curve and his good insight, he often managed to get around the opponent's wall. Even the goalkeepers were often left nailed to the ground and could do nothing more than watch Balázs' ball fly into the net.
