You may have already seen him training in recent weeks. Because our mascot Phoxy is facing his biggest challenge ever: running the ASML Half Marathon Eindhoven. Phoxy is running 21.1 km on Sunday, October 13, to raise money for an important research project of KWF Kankerbestrijding.
All proceeds from Phoxy's sponsored run will go to research a new cure for Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that primarily affects children under the age of 6. Every year, 20 to 35 children are diagnosed in the Netherlands.
"There is a great need for new, targeted treatments that are both effective and less stressful for young children," said Dorine Manson, KWF director. "Donations and initiatives like Phoxy's are crucial to enable scientific research into innovative treatments. We are very grateful to Phoxy and PSV for committing to this in this way."
Challenge
With his participation in the half marathon, Phoxy is facing his biggest challenge ever. He has abseiled at the Philips Stadium before, and he also tied down the long boards before, but that was only child's play compared to running a half marathon. For charity, however, Phoxy likes to push his limits. His participation in his warm coat will be closely monitored by a doctor who will accompany Phoxy through the avenues and lanes of Eindhoven.

You can support Phoxy by making a donation via PSV.nl/doneer. The club's business network is also being tapped to contribute. The more than 15,000 members of the Phoxy Club and FC PSV O12 are also called upon to cheer Phoxy on during the marathon via a banner.
"As a BVO, we believe in the power of sports to take social responsibility, and this initiative not only shows Phoxy's sporting character, but also PSV's commitment to society," said Frans Janssen, Commercial Director of PSV.
ASML Marathon and KWF
KWF is the official charity of the ASML Marathon Eindhoven, organized by ASML. The sporting event will be held during the weekend of Oct. 12 and 13. Phoxy will run on Sunday, Oct. 13 at noon.
