Aniek Nouwen tore her cruciate ligament again. The 26-year-old defender had just recovered from the same injury to her right knee. This time it is her left knee.
Aniek sustained the injury during a training session. This means that her season is over before it has even started. The central defender recently made her comeback in the league game against ADO Den Haag and then started the cup game with Rijnvogels.
"This is coming extremely hard, especially now that I was just allowed to play again," Aniek said. "I had left a tough period behind me and now I'm suddenly in the middle of it again. Nevertheless, I'm going to do everything again to come back stronger."
Two years ago, she already tore her cruciate ligament once, then during a game of the Dutch Junior Team.
