PSV won a closed practice match against KRC Genk at De Herdgang on Thursday afternoon. Thanks to two goals by Luciano Narsingh, it became 2-0 against the club from the highest Belgian division.
Goal Narsingh
Because many players are on the road with their national selections, coach Phillip Cocu gave some talents from PSV U21 the opportunity to show themselves. After a cautious start from both sides, PSV broke the game open in the 25th minute. First, Florian Jozefzoon shot at goal, but without success. Less than a minute later Jordy de Wijs steamed up the left side and gifted a great chance to Luciano Narsingh, but it did not yield more than a corner. That corner was thrown in by Jetro Willems and seemed to be worked in by Daniël Schwaab. However, Luciano Narsingh touched the ball and signed for the 1-0 halftime score.
Narsingh exploits penalty
In the second half it was again a tactical game in which little was given away. Pereiro had left the field for Sven Blummel, changing the system of play somewhat. PSV had some nice shooting chances, especially through Philippe Rommens, Florian Jozefzoon and Simon Poulsen, but they did not lead to goals. The game seemed to end 1-0, until Albert Gudmundsson, who was brought on again ten minutes before time, was unbalanced in the Genk penalty area in the final minute. Luciano Narsingh coolly exploited the awarded penalty kick: 2-0.
