With Maxi Romero in the starting lineup, PSV U21 won their third home game this season on Friday night. This time VVV-Venlo had to take the brunt of it, not having much to say in the first half. The second half, however, had a completely different face, making it exciting after all.

Dominance
Early in the match, the Argentine was put in position. He tried to outmaneuver his direct opponent, but the Venlo defense was just able to prevent that. Moments later, Johan Bakayoko crossed to Cheick Touré, who sent the ball into the goalkeeper's hands with his head. The many chances proved to be a harbinger of things to come. In the 24th minute, Bakayoko scored from the rebound and twenty minutes later it was Romero who shot PSV U21 to a 2-0 lead from the spot.

Exciting finale
The second game has a poorer start as VVV-Venlo scores immediately. Vincent Müller was just in time to clear the ball from the line. This prevented a draw. Then the storm died down and the match bled a little. In the closing stages VVV-Venlo had a couple of shots, but the same could be said about PSV U21 that kept the pressure on via the counter. After 94 minutes the final signal came, giving PSV U21 the win in the first period.
