PSV Women tonight crowned a fantastic season with the first title in the club's history. In a sold-out TenCate Stadion De Herdgang, Roeland ten Berge 's team experienced a great start in which it took the lead after only three minutes. In the second half PSV doubled the lead, and the victory was no longer in danger.
PSV Women flew out of the starting blocks and took the lead within five minutes through Riola Xhemaili. It was Renate Jansen who reached Riola with a good cross, after which the Swiss pulled the trigger and made her 15th of the season. After this goal, PSV remained on top and came close to scoring 2-0 through Liz Rijsbergen and Nina Nijsstad. After this PSV created less chances and the game was even. After half an hour Ten Berge's team came close to doubling the score again and Renate saw her effort disappear just short of the goal. PSV was dangerous at times, but there were no major chances. Furthermore, the defense was very solid during this half, allowing PSV Women to go to tea with a 1-0 score.
Fenna doubles lead
PSV had a rough start to the second half, failing to create any danger up front. PSV woke up after an hour of play and ADO Den Haag seemed to come alongside. However, the linesman flagged for offside and the Hague equalizer was scuppered. As the second half progressed, PSV Women slowly became more dangerous and forced more and more chances. In the 70th minute, PSV seemed to score a second goal, but ADO was able to defend at close range and the lead remained minimal. A few minutes later that redeeming goal did fall, and it was Fenna Kalma who reacted alertly and doubled the score via a rebound. In the closing stages of the match PSV Women held their own and won 2-0 to become Dutch champions with one round to go.
