PSV lost the mini-Lichtstadderby 1-2. Initially Stijn Schaars ' team took the lead, but over ninety minutes FC Eindhoven was the better side.
In a well-filled TenCate Stadion De Herdgang, PSV U21 entered the derby against FC Eindhoven. In the opening phase, the visitors were the better side, but the Eindhoven last line was well placed and managed to prevent an early goal. After twenty minutes of play, PSV U21 got into the game better and Sol Sidibé took care of the first shot on goal on behalf of Stijn Schaars' team. Not much later, the promising team managed to take the lead and made it 1-0 thanks to Joël van den Berg. After this opening goal FC Eindhoven dominated the game and the visitors were dangerous at times. However, Poortvliet's team failed to score before half-time and PSV U21 went to tea with a 1-0 lead.
Shuryjano Cornecion and Brent Jonkers debut
Early in the second half, Joël came close to scoring his second goal of the day, but the midfielder pounced on goalkeeper Borgmans and the score remained the same. Furthermore, the visitors were dominant and Kevin van Veen beautifully shot FC Eindhoven past PSV. After this goal the game was even, but neither side had any real chances. Fifteen minutes before time the visitors managed to reward themselves and the Blauw-Witten took the lead through a goal by Huisman. Just after the goal, head coach Stijn Schaars made a few substitutions, including Shuryjano Cornecion, who made his official debut for PSV U21. In the closing stages of the match Brent Jonkers also made his professional debut, coming on for Madi Monamay. Furthermore, PSV failed to come up with a final offensive and the derby against FC Eindhoven ended in a 1-2 defeat.
