Saturday night's match between ADO Den Haag and PSV will go ahead. A possible police strike will not affect it. The football association has confirmed this on its website.
A major nationwide strike is looming this coming weekend due to broken negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement between police unions, the Ministry of Justice and the chief of police. As a result, not enough police could be present at scheduled matches in professional football (Eredivisie and Keuken Kampioen Divisie). Minister Grapperhaus is trying to ensure that the actions are prohibited by the courts through summary proceedings on Friday afternoon. The announced strikes will run from 6 p.m. Friday evening until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Statement KNVB
The KNVB writes: ''We are in close contact with the clubs and municipalities about this. They are currently working very hard on alternatives to allow as many matches as possible to be played this weekend, should the strike continue and should the respective mayors find it justified to play the matches.'' The match in The Hague - like seven other major league matches - has already been confirmed to go ahead regardless.
