Johan Bakayoko is the 2021-2022 talent of the year of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The striker of PSV U21 received the prestigious award Thursday evening at the gala of the First Division, which was previously won by, among others, former PSV player Dries Mertens.
Development
Johan Bakayoko made a strong development this season under coach Ruud van Nistelrooij. Under the wings of the incoming Head Coach, the 19-year-old Belgian striker scored 17 times, gave 10 assists and played himself to a debut in PSV's first team. Bakayoko has been a member of PSV Academy since 2019. He played in PSV O17, PSV O19 (current PSV O18) and PSV U21. Next season he will make the switch to the A-selection. Bakayoko received the Golden Shield for Best Talent from the hands of national coach Louis van Gaal.
