After more than four years, Olympiacos FC and PSV once again face each other in a European context. Both teams know each other from the 2021 Europa League, in which the Greeks eventually won. This time PSV, buoyed by a strong run under Peter Bosz, hopes to take revenge on a difficult opponent at home.

The first official match between Olympiacos FC and PSV was played in Athens on Feb. 18, 2021. That game, part of the UEFA Europa League (last 32), ended 4-2 in favor of the Greeks. On behalf of PSV, Eran Zahavi scored twice. So there was a lot of pressure on the home game in Eindhoven, where PSV had to score at least three times. After the first half, everything seemed to be fine after all, as Eran had scored twice again. In the 88th minute, however, it became clear that that season's European adventure would end. Indeed, the Greeks made it 2-1.

Both teams also practiced against each other once: on July 24, 2018, PSV won 4-0 in Uden, including two goals by Luuk de Jong.

Form and performance Olympiacos FC
Olympiacos FC has so far failed to record a victory in the UEFA Champions League. In the first three group matches, the team played 0-0 against Pafos, lost 2-0 to Arsenal and in the most recent game had to face a heavy 6-1 defeat by FC Barcelona. With that, the club from Athens has collected only one point after three matches.

In the Greek league, the Super League 1, Olympiacos FC performed significantly better. The team managed to win seven of its nine matches, played one draw and lost one game. With that, Olympiacos FC currently occupies second place in the league table. The team is especially strong in its own stadium: all five home games were won, with a goal difference of fourteen for and only three against. That means an average of almost three goals per game and a solid defensive organization led by coach José Luis Mendilibar.

Greek threat
Offensively, Olympiacos FC has several players in form. Striker Ayoub El Kaabi is the current top scorer in the Greek league with six goals in nine matches. Midfielder Chiquinho is also at the top of the rankings with four goals, while Alen Ozbolt also managed to score four times in six appearances.

Confidence and milestones
Peter Bosz 's team is also in excellent form. PSV won the last five league games in a row and registered sixteen goals for and seven against in that series. In addition, two players may reach a personal milestone. Mauro Júnior is facing his 175th official game for PSV, while Ivan Perišić may make his 50th appearance in the red and white.
