Denzel Dumfries is leaving PSV. The 25-year-old winger will continue his career with FC Internazionale Milano in Serie A. 'A nice step for Denzel,' responded Director of Football Affairs John de Jong.

Space
A departure for Dumfries had been in the air for some time. The Oranje international was given space after PSV's European Championship to speak with interested clubs about a switch. "We made clear agreements about that together at the end of the season," De Jong explained. "Denzel has developed excellently at PSV in recent years and has always been professional and loyal to the club. That deserves appreciation," De Jong said.

From international to captain
Denzel Dumfries developed at PSV at lightning speed to become an international of the Dutch national team and eventually captain. Since his arrival from sc Heerenveen to PSV, he has been an impeccable base player. In 2018, Dumfries made his debut and in a lesser phase at PSV, the unyielding winger showed himself to be a strong captain. In 2019, he officially received the belt on his arm and kept it under the guidance of Head Coach Roger Schmidt. Dumfries played a total of 126 games for PSV, scoring 16 goals and providing the final pass 20 times.

All the best
De Jong continued: "We were aware of his desire to make the move abroad this summer and also think he deserved it. Denzel has always committed himself more than a hundred percent for PSV, has become a captain here, an international and an outstanding player in the Dutch national team. We are proud of that. We wish Denzel all the best."

'I will always keep following you guys'
"I want to thank you very much for the three years I got to play here. It was great to feel your support, on and off the field. I will always follow you guys, keep up the good work. Thank you very much, on my behalf"
