PSV and Jerdy Schouten will continue with each other longer. Wednesday afternoon the 28-year-old captain put his signature under a contract that runs until mid-2030.

The international of the Dutch national team has so far played 71 official matches for PSV, and not without success. His record now includes two national titles and, since last Sunday, also a Johan Cruijff Schaal. In addition, Schouten has been of great value to the club on several occasions in the UEFA Champions League. "These are fantastic weeks for me," says Schouten, whose initial contract ran through to the summer of 2028.

"First the captaincy and now this contract extension, which shows a lot of appreciation and trust from the club. I am grateful for that. Together with my family I am really enjoying myself, both at the club and in Brabant. The overall picture is right and so far it has also been a success story on a sporting level, with two league titles within two seasons as highlights. And we are far from finished with accelerating. The entire player group is hungry to achieve many more top performances with PSV."

For Earnest Stewart, Schouten's contract extension means another important step in the right direction. "When Jerdy made the transfer from Bologna to PSV two years ago, we expressed a number of ambitions together and they have all been realized for now," the PSV Director of Football Affairs knows. "Jerdy is of enormous value to PSV and we still see him growing in his development, as a footballer and as a personality. We are very happy that this key player is enjoying himself so much here and will stay with the club for a longer period of time. We have every confidence that we will have many more moments of joy together."
