After having spent three seasons with PSV, 30-year-old Andrés Guardado continues his career in Spain. The Mexico international, fifth all time among the El Tri appearances with 136 caps, has signed a three-year deal with Real Betís Sevilla. Guardado won two Eredivisie titles with PSV and the Dutch Super Cup on two occasions as well.
On loan from Valencia CF
Andrés Guardado joined PSV on a season-long loan from Valencia CF on 26 May 2014 and the Mexican made an immediate impact in Eindhoven. His impressive displays helped PSV clinch the title for the first time in seven seasons. PSV officially signed Guardado on a permanent deal in the summer of 2015, when he penned a three-year deal with PSV.
Guardado, who was appointed vice-captain after he had signed his contract, soon became the darling of the Philips Stadion. Fans started an atmosphere-enhancing campaign, unfolding banners with his image and chanting his name. He is immortalised in paint as his portrait is on a wall near the entrance of the Philips Stadion.
