Chelsea have loaned 24-year-old Marco van Ginkel to PSV for the 2017/18 season. The midfielder returns to Eindhoven for a third loan spell from Chelsea. Van Ginkel reported for duty on Sunday night, joining his PSV team mates for their summer camp in Vervier in Switzerland.
Marco van Ginkel is PSV’s third summer signing after Derrick Luckassen and Hirving Lozano put pen to paper on a contract in the Philips Stadion. Van Ginkel, who has been capped six times by the Netherlands, was also on loan from Chelsea at PSV the second part of the 2015/16 and 2016/17 season, He made 28 appearances in that period, scored fifteen goals and had five assist to his name. Van Ginkel had a great impact on a title-winning season in 2016. He did not win a prize in his second spell with PSV.
Van Ginkel: 'Very happy'
Speaking to PSV TV in Vervier on Sunday evening, Van Ginkel said he was very happy to return to PSV. “I am very happy to be here. I will give my all to have a great season. I have been on loan at PSV twice and I am looking forward to making my third loan spell a big success.”
Brands: ‘Never give up’
PSV director of football Marcel Brands told PSV TV he had done his very best to complete the loan signing of Van Ginkel from Chelsea. “We definitely wanted to add Marco van Ginkel to our squad. He was top of our shopping list and has always been our No 1 transfer target. We now have a well-balanced midfield with the likes of Jorrit Hendrix, Bart Ramselaar, Davy Pröpper and some talented youngsters”, said Brands.
