PSV did not end their UEFA Europa League campaign on a high note after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Rosenborg BK on Thursday evening. Head coach Mark van Bommel admitted at the post-match conference that his side’s campaign had not been a successful one.
“Yes, we did not progress to the knockout stages which we should have done”, he said, when asked whether PSV had failed to meet expectations. “We would obviously have welcomed a win, but we did not create much against a stubborn Norwegian side. We should have won a penalty in the closing stages but I am happy we did not suffer any fresh injury concerns", said Van Bommel, referring to Sunday’s clash against Feyenoord in the Rotterdam Kuip.
PSV’s head coach will look ahead to that Eredivisie encounter on Friday afternoon. He did not think that Thursday’s performance will have any effect on Sunday’s trip. “That’s another game. Even when you put on a fine display, you will not be guaranteed a good game in the next match.”
