Ernest Faber spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s away fixture to Vitesse. PSV face three tough upcoming tests when they take on Vitesse, Feyenoord and FC Groningen. PSV’s interim head coach hopes to make it three wins out of three, following head-to-head wins over Willem II and ADO Den Haag. ”We aim to climb higher on the Eredivisie table.”
Show no fear
‘Show no fear, and go out to win as many games as possible.’ That was the message Faber put across during his press briefing at De Herdgang training facilities on Friday afternoon. ‘Every football player wants to achieve maximum results. We take each game as it comes. Two consecutive victories have lifted the mood of the players and fans. We are looking forward to the challenge ahead”
‘Widen the gap to seven points’
Vitesse are currently lying in sixth place, with 38 points from 23 games. PSV are fourth, with 42 points. Faber: “We look to widen the gap with Vitesse to seven points. Things are looking bright for us. Vitesse are a quality team but we must show on Sunday that we are good enough to win the game and thus get another three points in the bag.”
Carnival
PSV have a near-full strength squad available on Sunday. Donyell Malen misses the rest of the season due to injury. Faber smiled when he was asked whether he was afraid his players would plunge into the carnival hustle and bustle this weekend. “They are professionals and know what it takes to perform well.”
