PSV were happy to bag the three points in the first game after the winter break. Midfielder Joey Veerman, who made his PSV debut, and captain Marco van Ginkel looked back at the 1-0 victory against FC Groningen.
Joey Veerman was all smiles when he spoke to the press after the game. “I am delighted to have been handed my debut”, said the midfielder. “I am happy with the win and obviously also with my debut”, said Veerman. “I feel at home with this club. The level of the training sessions is high but I feel I can keep up with my team mates. This was a wonderful afternoon. I think I am ready for the next step in my career and I am looking forward to this new challenge.”
Van Ginkel is also glad Joey Veerman has joined PSV. “Joey is a very good player. I am happy he wears the red-and-white striped shirt. It is good to have fierce competition for first-team places”, said PSV’s captain, who was satisfied with the outcome of the game. “We met expectations, taking three points and maintaining top position in the league. We put on a decent first-half display, but were sloppy at times in the second half, but at the end of the day we held our own and bagged three points. Now we will start preparing for a crucial week”, said Van Ginkel.
