Van Ginkel happy with goal

It was a night to remember for Marco van Ginkel. PSV’s captain scored the second goal for his team against Galatasaray SK in Istanbul. “It was not a walkover, but we conceded hardly anything”, said the midfielder, speaking after the game.

‘Started sharply’
PSV earned a 7-2 aggregate win against the Turkish team. PSV defended a 5-1 victory from the first leg in Eindhoven, but Van Ginkel did not take anything for granted. “We knew we had to start sharply. Galatasaray went out looking to score an early goal, but we were the better team tonight.”

“Feels great to score a goal”
Captain Marco van Ginkel scored the second goal of the match. The captain was in the right place to slot home Mario Götze’s perfect cross. “It always feels great to score a goal”, said the midfielder. “There was some space at the near post and I popped up in time to finish. Once we had taken a 1-0 lead, we knew we would win the game and when the score was 2-0 it was game, set and match.” PSV will take on FC Midtjylland in the third round of the UEFA Champions League.
