Van Bommel lauds PSV’s team spirit after 6-1 win

Focus and the right attitude and mentality. Mark van Bommel has been going on about it for many weeks. PSV have to do it again and again, no matter what team they play. And PSV’s head coach saw his side put in a spirited team performance in their 6-1 victory against Willem II in the Philips Stadion.

Speaking at the post-match conference on Saturday night. “Playing host to Willem II after a European week with qualification for the Champions League group stages and the tough draw we were handed on Thursday is not an easy assignment”, said Van Bommel, who thought motivation would not be a problem. “On the contrary. But when the players are the baker’s or are waiting at traffic lights, people will only want to have a chat about the Champions league.”

“We did not start well and Willem II had a great chance to open the scoring”, said Van Bommel. “But then we played according to plan, playing free flowing football. I am delighted with the team’s display and I think the players deserve a compliment for the spirit in the squad. The fans have enjoyed themselves but we can still do better. But there is no reason for complaining after recording a 6-1 win”, said Van Bommel, smiling brightly.
