PSV welcome VVV-Venlo in the Philips Stadion on Sunday at 16.45 ahead of the international break. Head coach Mark van Bommel is feeling confident. “We must win this game”, he said at his weekly press briefing.
"We will meet a new-look VVV. They have appointed a new coach and have bolstered their squad with many new signings. In spite of all these changes, they are a mid-table team and possess certain qualities”, said Van Bommel.
"But we look at ourselves and know we owe it to ourselves to win this game. It is the last match before the players fly out to represent their countries during the international break and we want to end this period on a high. We have made progress lately and would like to build on that.”
Jeroen Zoet misses Sunday’s game
Jeroen Zoet will not start for PSV on Sunday. "He has informed Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman that he is unable to report for duty. It’s a shame he has been forced to withdraw from the squad but he is not match fit.”
Jorrit Hendrix was taken off in the closing stages of the match in Norway, due to some minor problems. “We will assess him after the Saturday training session. We have a large squad to select from which is a blessing with all these games coming thick and fast”, concluded Van Bommel.
