‘The lads and crowd were outstanding’

PSV head coach Mark van Bommel was happy with his side’s response to a poor spell. PSV claimed an emphatic 5-0 victory against Fortuna Sittard to end a hectic week. “The lads and crowd were outstanding”, said Van Bommel, giving his post-match reaction.

“Our loyal fans have always been behind us, also in hard times”, said Van Bommel. “Of course we felt the pressure but I have always felt confident the players would bounce back. I am very much satisfied with the resounding win”, said Van Bommel, who hailed his PSV’s dressing room spirit. “We were in a bad moment but we need to stay together.” Van Bommel could not tell whether PSV have got their season back on track. “We had some tense internal discussions but they will not go on public record. I can’t say whether things are back to normal right now but a 5-0 win will always help ease the pressure:, concluded Van Bommel.

“We must keep the momentum”
Donyell Malen took his goal scoring for the season to eleven, after he netted PSV’s second goal in the 5-0 win over Fortuna Sittard. “In the last few weeks we have gone from doing okay to new lows, but we always knew there would be a time that we could put that behind us. This was a convincing win and now we must keep the momentum going into the next game.”
